The Return of Superman

Man of Steel

So here we have another retelling of the story of Superman. One may question “how many times can it be retold?” But I have to be honest, this time it was done in a way that went more along with what I read in the comics when I was growing up.

Casting was pretty solid in this one too. This go-round Superman was played by a very swole (buff) Henry Cavill and an always happy/adorable Amy Adams as Lois Lane. I like how they start from the very beginning and explain the turmoil happening on Krypton which lead us to Superman going to Earth to begin with. His name on Krypton is Kal-El and he’s sent to Earth by the actions of his brave parents Jor-El (Russell Crowe) and Lara Lor-Van (Ayelet Zurer). Krypton is literally falling apart and Kal-El is sent away with to start anew on another planet with the future of Krypton with him. But not everyone is congruent on the subject, especially General Zod (Michael Shannon) who vows no matter what happens “I will find him!” Other familiar faces include Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and Christopher Meloni as General Nathan Hardy.

The action scenes were incredible and fast-paced, and it was a sight to see every time Superman took flight! We definitely recommend this one for 3D (it’s definitely worth the extra dollars) as the flight patterns, debris, and action sequences were almost purposely made for three-dimensional awesomeness.

I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews but we believe it to be a 9 out of 10. I’m now a Henry Cavill fan and we thought the casting of Amy Adams as Lois Lane was great. Good storyline and lots of action make for a great Man of Steel film. Definitely enjoyed it more than the last one. Make sure to go check it out for yourself!
