An elite group of Atlanta’s favorite taco establishments will gather in Candler Park on Sunday, May 1, to participate in the inaugural Atlanta Taco Festival from 1 to 7 p.m. The Atlanta Taco Festival is the city’s only event dedicated to the ever-customizable taco and will allow Atlantans to taste unique menu items from Latin and non-Latin restaurants alike. The festival will also feature an exciting VIP tequila experience and live entertainment. Adding a philanthropic element to the event, a portion of the proceeds from the Atlanta Taco Festival will benefit CHRIS Kids, a nonprofit organization with the mission to heal children, strengthen families and build community.
As local restaurants strive to introduce their own creative takes on the traditional tortilla dish, festival founders are excited to celebrate the taco trend that has taken off in Atlanta. Serving as a preview to Cinco de Mayo, the goal of the festival is to give patrons the opportunity to experience these culinary innovations from some of the best establishments in the city – all in one fun-filled afternoon.
Participating establishments include: Bartaco, El Myriachi, El Nopal, Frontera Tex Mex, Gotta Have It, King of Pops, Lil’ Ice Cream Dude, The Muenster Truck, On the Border, Rio Bravo, Taco Cantina, Tex’s Tacos, Tin Lizzy’s, Willy’s Mexicana Grill, and Yumbii, with more restaurants, trucks and caterers to be announced.
In addition to the tacos and tequila tastings, guests will enjoy live music entertainment from DJ Mike and the Bird City Revolutionaries, as well as a thrilling wrestling match featuring Lucha Libre USA’s masked warriors. Every half hour, interactive salsa classes will be offered on the main stage courtesy of Salsa Arte. Throughout the event, festival-goers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite establishment to win the title of “Best Taco” via SMS text message.
The Atlanta Taco Festival is excited to announce Lunazul Tequila as an official liquor sponsor for the event, with additional sponsors to be announced.
