In the 67th minute, Josef Martinez headed home a cross from Gressel to score his league-best fifth goal of the season. With 24 goals, the Venezuelan has now scored more goals through 25 games than any player in MLS history. Almirón converted two second-half penalty kicks and Romario Williams scored his first MLS goal in stoppage time to stamp the 5-0 victory.
NYCFC beat Real Salt Lake 4-0 Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium behind goals from Ismael Tajouri-Shradi, Maxi Moralez, Jo Inge Berget and Ebenezer Ofori. NYCFC is unbeaten at 5-0-1 and boasts the league’s most goals scored with 14 and the best goal differential at +10. Atlanta is second in both categories with 13 and +7, respectively, with a game in hand.
