Atlanta will play its second away match in five days after playing NYCFC to a 1-1 draw at Yankee Stadium on Saturday, June 9. Josef Martinez scored his league-leading 13th goal to give Atlanta a 1-0 advantage, but Alexander Callens equalized in the 77′. Brad Guzan made a team-record nine saves and helped Atlanta earn a point to remain in first place in the Eastern Conference.
Columbus Crew SC enters Wednesday’s match in third place in the East and having allowed a league-best 14 goals this season. On Saturday, June 9, Columbus played New York Red Bulls to a 1-1 draw at MAPFRE Stadium. Gyasi Zardes scored his team-high 10th goal of the season in the first half to give Columbus the lead, however, a second-half goal by Alex Muyl forced the teams to split the points.
