Music Monday: MANICS, Florian Picasso, Seven Lions, Greensky Bluegrass, and Tyler Dumont

Blending analog synths, new romantic vocals and cutting live instrumentation, Bay Area indie dance duo MANICS channel all things 80’s on their Dim Mak debut single “Deja Rendezvu.”

“Deja Rendezvu” is the first MANICS single of 2019, and follows their New Noise release “Embrace.” Since forming in 2012, the project has become an integral part of the Bay Area music scene, with their music gaining support by ODESZA, Poolside, Goldroom and more. Over the past year, the duo played alongside Little Boots, Classixx, Vitalic, Neon Indian, The Faint, and at a blow-out hometown gig at San Francisco’s MEZZANINE supporting The Knocks on New Years. Their concerts are a dynamic execution of technology and raw emotion, finessing indie pop vocals, live bass, synth work, percussion and modulation together.

Florian Picasso is not slowing down and shortly after releasing “Glitch” last month the young artist is back with another festival anthem “Hikari” (which means “Light” in Japanese and “Daring” in Maori). With the new release, Florian Picasso returns to the roots of his sound from the first single on Nicky Romero’s label “Origami”

  • Florian Picasso is the great-grandson of the world famous artist Pablo Picasso.
  • Picasso‘s “Final Call” amassed over 4M streams on Spotify.
  • Florian Picasso performed around the world, including Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Festival.
  • In 2016, he was ranked by DJ Mag at 38th on their annual list of Top 100 DJs.

Starting off the new year strong, Seven Lions has teamed up with Wooli and Trivecta for their highly anticipated collaboration “Island,” which melds euphoric melodies with bass-heavy synths into the perfect blissful yet abrasive melodic dubstep hybrid. Featuring the majestic singer Nevve, “Island” is now out on Seven Lions’ imprint Ophelia Records.

2018 was a massive year for Seven Lions, as he completed his remarkable “The Journey 2 Tour”, released the beloved Start Again EP which included pivotal singles “After Dark” and “Dreamin,’” and unleashed his collaboration with SLANDER and Dabin entitled “First Time,” among other standout music.

Greensky Bluegrass is kicking off the new year with another new single from their highly anticipated seventh studio album, All For Money (Big Blue Zoo Records). Possessed by chaotic melodies and expert rapid-fire instrumentation, the track gives listeners but a taste of what to expect from these titans at one of their legendary live shows. “Courage For The Road” is Greensky Bluegrass at their most enthused, as lyrics situated at an emotional crossroad are set ablaze by an elated jam session that illustrates just how much passion and energy they possess.

All For Money is out on January 18th, 2019 via the band’s own label, Big Blue Zoo Records. The set of 12 new songs was recorded at Echo Mountain Recording in Asheville, NC alongside co-producers Dominic John Davis (Jack White’s longtime bassist) and Glenn Brown. After 18 years together, up to 175 shows per year, nearly 1,000 different setlists, six studio albums and a litany of live releases, Greensky Bluegrass embody more than just music for its members, and the irony of the album title highlights the band’s own sense of humor. The collection is being hailed by critics as their best yet.

A newcomer to some and yet a veteran of the music industry, singer-songwriter Tyler Dumont doesn’t hold back on her new single, “Don’t Mean It,” produced by SwanQo and Josh X (Cardi B). “Don’t Mean It,” is the first song released from her forthcoming project Nomadic Behavior, set for release in late Spring 2019.

“Don’t Mean It,” is produced by SwanQuo and Josh X (Cardi B). “Don’t mean is about the turmoil and hardships we encounter in relationships every day and expressing things we don’t mean,” shares Tyler. The video directed by Johnny Frost features dramatic scenes capturing the fiery tension between Tyler and her lover portrayed by actor, Donovan Christie Jr. (Explicit lyrics)
