Music Monday: Yvng Jalapeño & Just A Gent, Jody Wisternoff, Sunny Lax, Call Me Malcolm, and Godlands ft. Yung Bambi

Yvng Jalapeño & Just A Gent throwdown wall-crumbling bass on “Geekin’,” their collaborative showcase of raw talent alongside Brisbane native Nerve’s assertive raps. “Geekin’” sees Maitland’s tuxedo-clad producer Just A Gent team up once again with fellow Aussie Yvng Jalapeño, with whom he previously collaborated on his 2019 Monstercat single “Drowning.” With over 5 Million streams in the past 12 months on Spotify alone, Nerve has proved himself to be one of the most successful independent hip hop artists in Australia right now.

Stepping away from his usual hip hop and grime beats, enigmatic Brisbane rapper Nerve was drawn into the project after hearing the production. He states, “It’s a really interesting release for me – mostly because around the time it happened, I had a major focus on expanding the styles/genres that I work on within music.”

A legend of Bristol’s dance music scene, Jody Wisternoff releases his brand new twelve-track LP ‘Nightwhisper’ today. His first solo album in eight years, ‘Nightwhisper’ follows Wisternoff’s 2012 debut LP ‘Trails We Blaze’ and esteemed catalog as Way Out West.

A formative figure in the UK rave scene, Wisternoff first made his name in the early ’90s before cementing his position as one of the UK’s finest talent-spotters and DJs as part of the Anjunadeep label family, where he co-curates the chart-topping annual compilation series.

A staple at Anjunabeats since 2006, Hungarian producer Levente Márton (aka Sunny Lax) writes a new chapter with the release of a new EP: End Of Our Time.

Penned before world events took a turn for the worse, the five-track End Of Our Time EP celebrates all aspects of the Sunny Lax sound in 2020. Opening with the tranquil ‘If I Knew It Was The Last Time’, Sunny then serves up a salvo of club monsters in ‘Close To Me’, ‘Angels With Filthy Souls’, and ‘Mother’. The journey concludes on the Porter Robinson-esque ’Stay’, featuring EL Waves.

South London, UK Ska/Punk 5-piece Call Me Malcolm has signed with LA-based label Wiretap Records, to unleash their new full-length album “Me, Myself and Something Else.”

The announcement follows the release of the band’s two recent singles and music videos from the album, “Wake Up, The Monster Said”, and “What You Burn”, both of which you can watch below.

Bass champion Godlands taps up-and-comer, Yung Bambi, to spit high-octane bars over her rhythmic trap banger “Drop It Low.”

Hailed by DJ Mag as one of “Australia’s most promising voices,” Godlands continues her global takeover with another standout record on Dim Mak. “Drop It Low” arrives on the heels of “Smoke Em Up (feat. SAMPLEGOD)” released earlier this spring, and continues to showcase her bass-driven cohesion of hip hop and trap.
