Music Monday: QUIX, Ellen Krauss, Zander Hawley, Taki Gold, Hypression, and Futuristic Polar Bears

Taking a swift departure from his signature eccentric trap beats, QUIX crafts a moody downtempo jam through “Somebody,” featuring the serene vocals of Australian singer-songwriter Alex Hosking.

The melodic single follows QUIX’s April release “Gunning For You (feat. Nevve)” and once again sees the Los Angeles-via-Auckland producer take on a love-centric theme. While “Somebody” veers away from QUIX’s traditional bass-forward sound design, it highlights his versatility as a producer, capable of making songs based not only on how he feels but reflective of the current global climate.

Meet rising Swedish indie-pop singer, Ellen Krauss who is thrilled to share her new single “No Talk” out now through Tiller Inc. licensed to BMG Recorded Music and featured on Glitter Magazine and Earmilk.

Ellen says, “No Talk is about ignoring the fear of getting it wrong for a minute, and just letting yourself be swept away. It’s okay to seize the moment even though you have no clue what you’re doing. You can make up your own rules.”

Los Angeles, singer-songwriter, Zander Hawley is thrilled to announce his new EP, I Invented Time Travel was released on May 15th along with the music video to his single “Redcoats.” The EP also features the track “Thumbs” that Zander released earlier.

Joey Brodnax the director says, “Redcoats is something of a fever dream to me. Zander’s psilocybin induced writings birthed this song that you can completely step into. Once inside, you’re free to float and enjoy the colors.”

Liberian-born, LA-based fashion designer, visual artist, and musician TAKI GOLD uses his art, fashion, and music for one purpose: to honor all women. In the month that celebrates Mother’s Day, TAKI’s debut single “Liberian Boy” comes out on May 15th and celebrates the women who raised and protected him as a young boy growing up during the first Liberian Civil War.

“Liberian Boy” paints glimpses of the artist’s journey from his home country to Los Angeles where he lives today. The single is TAKI’s first release from his debut self-produced album, Girl God, which was released July 24, 2020.

Young producer HYPRESSION scatters tension-building stabs and sparse melodies over shuffling house grooves on his New Noise debut “What’s Going On.”

“What’s Going On” is HYPRESSION’s third release of the year, following “Goes On (feat. gosha)” and “LIE (feat. Aallis).” Since breaking out in 2017 with “Not About You” alongside Ameria (Trap City/Spinnin’ Records), the Russian up-and-comer has flourished with his unique multilayered approach to electronic music.

UK-based duo Futuristic Polar Bears is back with another house gem “Faith” with vocals by Nashville-based pop singer/songwriter LUX, who already worked with NERVO on “Why Do I,” “Moment” with Kosling and “Sweet Harmony” with Stadiumx.

The euphonious track is the British duo’s 4th release on the label – after “I Can’t Do It,” “You & Me” and “Better Than This.”
