Madison Keys and Rhyne Williams win Australian Open Wild Card Tournament in Norcross, GA
The Peach Review® would like to congratulate Madison Keys and Rhyne Williams for winning the 2012 Australian Open Wild Card Tournament this past weekend at Life Time Athletic and Tennis in Norcross, GA.
Keys, seeded 3rd overcame a tough first set challenge from 4th seed Mallory Burdette to win in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 to claim her second consecutive wild card berth to the Women’s main draw Australian Open.
In the Men’s Finals, Williams seeded 3rd continued his great play from his semi-final upset over 2nd seed Denis Kudla to surprise the top seeded Tim Smyzcek. The final was the best 3 out of 5 set match keeping up Australian Open scoring and Williams won 7-6 (4), 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 to advance to his second consecutive grand slam tournament.
