The stars were out in full-force on Day 1 of the Cannes Film Festival. Above you’ll see the Official Jury for this year’s Official Selection as well as the President’s of the Jury in the Coen Brothers.
The evening began with the opening red carpet ceremony featuring stars like Viann Zhang, Doutzen Kroes, Natalie Portman, Karlie Kloss, and Lupita Nyong’o.
The stars came out to attend the ceremony’s opening film La Tête Haute (Standing Tall) by Emmanuelle Bercot. If you’re surprised by the film-choice of the festival you aren’t alone. Many were scratching their heads wondering “what were they thinking?” Well, they were thinking more seriously this year after the disaster of an opener they screened last year (Grace of Monaco).
The Riviera is quite lively this time of year. Everyone looks forward to this global spectacle from inspiring films submitted from around the world, to people trying to get a glimpse of their favorite actors/actresses firsthand.
Seeing people dressed up holding signs saying, “billets” (tickets) or “invite” are all too common during the festival. As the festival itself is invite only, the next best chance to see your favorite star is at a party. After that, it would take a bit of luck and random chance if you aren’t part of the festival or press.
Movie screenings on the beach? Super yachts? Seeing a Ferrari as often as you’d see a Honda stateside? That is the Cannes Film Festival experience. The experience is one of those ‘once in a lifetime’ type of memorable events. This year has been great because the exchange rate has been more reasonable than in the past, taking away the burden to fight temptation for certain purchases. Unless you came on one of the super yachts that is, then you can do how you please.
The madness continues tonight with the red carpet for George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road. We understand that the world wants to see all the fashion styles and “who wore it better,” so follow us on instagram: @thepeachreview (HERE). We’ll be posting red carpet pictures from there and taking HD to another level!
