Atlanta Hawks Mike Budenholzer Press Conference for NBA Africa Game 2015
Atlanta Hawks President of Basketball Operations/Head Coach Mike Budenholzer conducted a conference call to discuss NBA Africa Game 2015. Budenholzer, the 2014-15 NBA Coach of the Year, is serving as an Assistant Coach for Team Africa.
During the call with the Media Budenholzer addressed the following:
· The Background on how this game came about and how much he wanted to get involved with Basketball with Borders for both professional and personal reasons. He feels the importance of exposing his family to different cultures.
· He was able to visit many places in South Africa which included Capetown in Johannesburg and was hopeful to visit Robin Island.
· The Basketball without Borders local camp along with Chris Paul Clinic that was taking place that Thursday.
· This weekend’s Saturday game will be played a highly competitive level under Coach Popovich.
· How well the Hawks summer and training camp was going and continuing the momentum from the last 2 seasons.
· Discussing the importance of adding Tiago Splitter from Spain, along with Hardaway Jr, Holliday, Tavares and resigning Millsap.
· Ended conference with the discussion of how important player development is and how the Hawks Franchise places great emphasis on this within the organization.
The sold-out NBA Africa Game 2015 will feature a Team Africa vs. Team World format and will be played in support of Boys & Girls Clubs of South Africa, SOS Children’s Villages Association of South Africa and the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
The game will air live in the U.S. on ESPN on Aug. 1 at 9:00 a.m. ET and in Africa on SuperSport at 3:00 p.m. CAT from Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg, South Africa.
