Atlanta United returns to action Saturday afternoon to take on 2016 Eastern Conference finalists Montreal Impact at Stade Saputo for the first-ever meeting between the two clubs. This is the third match of a four-game road stretch for Atlanta, who enters the match in third place in the Eastern Conference standings with eight points and a league-leading +8 goal differential. Montreal sits in 10th place in the Eastern Conference with three points.
Atlanta is coming off a 2-2 draw at Toronto on April 8 in which the team stole a point from the defending Eastern Conference Champions. Tito Villalba led Atlanta United with a brace after he opened the scoring in the 15th minute and later equalized in the 47th minute after Toronto had taken a 2-1 lead prior to the half. Goalkeeper Alec Kann made seven saves.
Montreal return home after a 2-0 defeat to LA Galaxy in the final match of a three-game road trip. The Impact conceded a goal in each half and only put two shots on target as they were forced to play the entire second half a man down after Marco Donadel was sent off with a straight red card in the 44th minute. Saturday marks the second home match for the Impact this season and the first at Stade Saputo.
