Books & Booze Club at City Winery

Ponce City Market’s Posman Books and City Winery have announced the new book for its Books & Booze book club, Call Me by Your Name by American writer André Aciman. Featuring lively discussions among fellow readers, this monthly free event is hosted by Posman Books’ General Manager, Marc Stiles, and will be held at the popular urban winery on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, beginning at 7 p.m.

The acclaimed 2007 novel, Call Me by Your Name, centers on a blossoming romantic relationship between an intellectually precocious and curious 17-year-old American-Italian Jewish boy named Elio Perlman and a visiting 24-year-old American Jewish scholar named Oliver in 1980s Italy. The novel chronicles their summer romance and the 20 years that follow.

Among its reviews, The New York Times, called the novel “an exceptionally beautiful book”, while The Washington Post said, “If you have ever been the willing victim of obsessive love—a force greater than yourself that pulls you inextricably toward the object of your desire—you will recognize every nuance of André Aciman’s superb new novel, ‘Call Me by Your Name.’

Literature lovers can purchase their copy of the monthly selection from Posman Books for the June Books & Booze event. City Winery’s Beverage Director, JR Smith, created June’s themed Literary Libation, The Bridge, a delightful mix of peach brandy, Creole Shrubb, and lemon juice.
