The Atlanta Falcons hosted Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon. The Dirty Birds fell to the Seahawks 27-20, with the Seahawks halting a late-stage comeback from the home team.
Quarterback Matt Schaub had a lot of pressure on his shoulders coming into this game but handled that pressure well. With Matt Ryan injured, the former Texans starter was called to task. He finished the game with 460 yards passing, one touchdown, and one interception. Oddly enough, his lone touchdown came towards the end of the game (with a failed 2-pt conversion to boot) so those 400+ yards didn’t convert to receiving touchdowns.
The Seahawks controlled the entire first half, kicking off the scoring in the first quarter with a field goal and dominating the second. Quarterback Russell Wilson threw two touchdowns and running back Chris Carson rushed for one, bringing the lead to 24-0 in the first half.
Part of the problem on offense for the Falcons is their lack of a rushing attack. They totaled 69 yards rushing between three different running backs. The two fumbles didn’t help their case either.
The Falcons would put up nine points in the fourth quarter but their late-game boost wasn’t enough to chip into that 24 point lead established after the first half.
The Falcons will have a bye week next week. When they return, they’ll head to New Orleans to face the Saints on Sunday, Nov. 10.
