Atlanta United put together one of its most complete performances of the season in a 1-0 win over FC Dallas Wednesday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Atlanta held FC Dallas to a season-low one shot on target and Jeff Larentowicz converted a second-half penalty to secure all three points, snapping FC Dallas’ three-game winning streak.

Featuring a new look in the attack with Jon Gallagher leading the line, Atlanta created numerous chances in the first half and ultimately attempted six shots, four of which were inside the box. One of Atlanta’s best chances in the first half came in the 28th minute when Gallagher and Jake Mulraney combined to force Jimmy Maurer into a save off a quick counterattack.

Atlanta nearly scored in the 51st minute off a corner kick as Larentowicz just barely missed a bicycle attempt to the far post. However, after video review a handball was called on Matt Hedges on the initial cross. Larentowicz stepped up and converted with a shot to the bottom right, getting Maurer to dive to the wrong post.

After holding FC Dallas without an attempted shot for much of the night, Brad Guzan was called upon to make a key save late, denying Santiago Mosquera from a close-range effort in the 80th minute.

Atlanta United (4-7-2, 14 points) returns to action Sunday, Sept. 27 against Chicago Fire at Soldier Field (7:30 p.m., FOX Sports Southeast, Sports Radio 92-9 The Game, La Mejor).
