Atlanta United today announced it has exercised its one offseason Buyout of a Guaranteed Contract on Jürgen Damm. The midfielder will no longer occupy a spot on the team’s roster or count against the 2022 salary budget.

Damm joined Atlanta in July 2020 and made 24 appearances in his two seasons in Atlanta. The midfielder recorded four assists in 14 appearances during the 2020 season. Damm scored the game-winner in Atlanta’s 1-0 second-leg victory against LD Alajuelense in the 2021 Concacaf Champions League.

A bitter end that never should’ve had a beginning. One has to wonder what’s going on in that front office?
