Seafood-centric Breaker Breaker, located along Atlanta’s Eastside Beltline Trail, will officially open its second-story lounge, Floridaman, on Friday, May 24. Leaning into the restaurant’s eclectic Gulf Coast personality, the 21+ bar will complement the concept’s existing offerings with colorful design, tropical accents, and eight televisions, just in time for the summer season.
Accessible via the front entrance on Wylie Street, Floridaman is open Friday evenings from 5 – 10 pm and Saturday – Sunday from 11:30 am -10 pm.
While the enormous steel canopy that was upcycled from the original Stein Steel warehouse was intended to expand the footprint of the overall property and provide shade to diners on the main floor, partners Alex Brounstein, Johnny Farrow, and Merritt Lancaster also realized an opportunity to utilize the second story of the interior building, leading to the creation of Floridaman. The team once again tapped designer Elizabeth Ingram to bring the aesthetic of Floridaman to life. While the downstairs is uniquely thematic in its aquatic color palette, Ingram leaned into the concept with flourishes inspired by coastal houseboats and bright colors to contrast the dining space below. The 55-seat space is carpeted with bright red and turquoise striped marine flooring and outfitted with bamboo seating, cushioned banquettes, and lacquered wooden tabletops. Vintage parrot light fixtures give the navy leather upholstered bar stools the perfect glow for peering over the Beltline, while Ingram also added three, six-foot long, custom neon-lit chandeliers for additional late-night vibrancy.

“We’ve had a lot of fun playing up the theme of Breaker Breaker in the design, menu, and bar program,” said owner Johnny Farrow. “The upstairs was a great spot to offer even more bar space to the 21+ crowd, while also poking a little fun at the phenomenon of ‘Florida Man’ with our take on a retro lounge.”
Floridaman will offer tableside service with an abbreviated food menu of favorites from Breaker Breaker’s menu as well as Chef Maximilian Hines’ spin on a pressed, Tampa-style, Cuban sandwich aptly named, The Floridaman. General Manager Hannah Keller and her team will debut two new signature cocktails that add a dash of cheekiness to classic beachside drinks and a few playful jabs at eye-roll rock hits from the early 2000s. The Freak on a Beach features Myers’s dark rum, peach liqueur, mango Chinola, and pineapple and I Wanna Be Sedated takes cues from the classic Painkiller cocktail with Guatemalan rum, Rumchata, pineapple, nutmeg. Favorite cocktails from Breaker Breaker will also be available like the Lot Lizard Spritz and spicy Vaya Con Dios, as well as premium spirits, beer, and wine selections
