Founded in 1969, the Cathedral Antiques Show is a community outreach project sponsored by the Episcopal Church Women of the Cathedral of St. Philip. With the help of hundreds of volunteers, devoted leadership and support from the Community and Church, the antiques dealers and our event sponsors, the Antiques Show has donated more than $3 million to Atlanta-area charitable causes that might not otherwise get the funds or exposure this event provides. Truly a Passion for a Purpose.

Over the past 42 years, the Cathedral Antiques Show and Tour of Homes has truly become a “Passion for a Purpose.” Whether you have a passion for antiques, a passion for design, a passion for being a part of a team of dedicated volunteers or a passion for “giving back” to the Atlanta community to people in need, you will “fire” that passion through this premier winter event.

The Coca-Cola Company has supported the Cathedral Antiques Show and Tour of Homes for a number of years. Clyde Tuggle, Senior Vice President, Chief Public Affairs & Communications Officer notes, “Our involvement with this project demonstrates the corporate commitment of The Coca-Cola Company to enrich the life of the community through educational programming while supporting local organizations who address some of Georgia’s most pressing needs.”

The Cathedral Antiques Show, Tour of Homes and Inspiration House attract visitors from around the country who enjoy art, decorating and learning about the finer aspects of antique origin and design. This is a must do on the Atlanta social scene with a loyal customer base from Atlanta’s most affluent zip codes. (30305, 30326, 30327, 30328, and 30342).

Quick Notes:

– Refugees are legal residents and are eligible for work, public school, and social services from the moment they arrive.

– The average wait-time for resettlement is 7-8 years and less than 1 percent of all refugees are ever resettled in a third country, such as the U.S.

– Refugees receive zero-interest loans to pay for their air travel to the U.S. They are expected to begin repaying these loans after they start working and build up savings.

– The repayment appears on their credit reports and contributes to building a good credit history.

– Georgia receives between 2,500-3,000 refugees a year. Currently, refugees from Bhutan and Burma are the two largest groups entering both the U.S. and Georgia.

– After one year, refugees are eligible to apply for legal permanent resident (L.P.R.) status. After five years from the date of resettlement, they may apply for U.S. citizenship.

Background info on RFS

The mission of Refugee Family Services (RFS) is to support the efforts of refugee families to achieve self-sufficiency by providing education and economic opportunity. Across the globe today, more than 15 million refugees have fled or been driven from their own state because of their race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion. Each year, the United States offers safety, freedom and opportunity to thousands of these individuals, inviting them to make this country their home. For more than 25 years, RFS has been there to help refugee women, children, and families build on their strengths, regain self-sufficiency, and thrive as new Americans in metro Atlanta.
