The country of Sweden has brought two things I love to America: Svedka Vodka and Icona Pop. Formed in 2009, Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo hailing from Stockholm joined forces to bring you a sound described best as indie pop. Their debut single, “Manners” received welcoming reviews from top press such as NME, The Guardian, Rolling Stone and Pitchfork Media. The follow up single and their most popular song, “I Love It” has gained them performances at many summer festivals worldwide as well as spots on television series, and commercials.

Catchy pop lyrics with heavy bass layered shows keep you moving and grooving through the entire set. Many people have pegged them as one hit wonders but it seems as after every show they do they win the hearts of the attendees. Once during a sold out show in New York Hjelt yelled out “I wanna eat you all!”.  If that isn’t genuine fan love I don’t know what is. Besides, who doesn’t want to see two hot chicks recreating their music live on stage? Especially with their newest track, a girl-powered rendition of Tupac’s classic hit “Girlfriend”.

The Icona Pop Tour is shining the light on their much-anticipated full-length debut album release. The tour will commence August 12 in North Carolina and finish October 27 in Stuttgart, Germany. The ladies will be performing August 14 at 7 p.m.  in Heaven at The Masquerade in Atlanta for $18 advance tickets.
