2014 ATLFF LOGO

Can you feel it? Can you smell it in the air? IT’S FESTIVAL SEASON! 😀  We have so many festivals to tell you about this month and April, so we’ll start with this one. ATLFF (Atlanta Film Festival) program has announced their selections for its 38th anniversary edition, taking place from March 28 – April 6. During the 10 day celebration, the city will play host to dozens of narrative and documentary features from across the globe that showcase the strength and diversity of today’s independent film movement. The program consists of 54 Narrative and Documentary Features, 11 Short Program Presentations and 12 Special Presentations. The festival includes 43 features/shorts shot in Georgia and/or featuring Atlanta natives.

The Atlanta Film Festival will open with the feature film Joe, directed by David Gordon Green. Joe tells a gripping story of friendship, violence and redemption through the eyes of Nicolas Cage, a hard-tempered ex-con who meets a hard-luck kid played by Tye Sheridan (Mud). David Gordon Green, director of Joe, will be in attendance on opening night. The Atlanta Film Festival’s final premiere will take place on Saturday, April 5 at The Plaza Theatre and will feature 2013 Toronto Film Festival breakout hit The Double. The comedy, which centers on a man who is driven insane by the appearance of his doppelgänger, is directed by Richard Ayoade. The Double stars Mia Wasikowska (Jane Eyre) and Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network). The final day of the festival, April 6, will be dedicated to encore presentations of fan favorites and critics’ choices.

Before we tell you about the awesome movies that will be screened we have to say this. The amazing ATLFF organization partnered with HBO to give us… guess what? The season premiere of Game of Thrones ONE WEEK EARLY! That’s right! It’s a free event at the Plaza Theatre that requires an RSVP 😉 Oh you’re welcome.

The list in its entirety can be found HERE  All we’re going to tell you is this…. They’re screening The Raid 2. Therefore, we’re in!

Hope to see you guys there!
