It was the day Tech fans had waited 200+ days for: The start of the college football season. After ending last season with a statement win in the Orange Bowl against Mississippi State, the Yellow Jackets were looking to start the 2015 season the same way.
It was an absolutely gorgeous night at Bobby Dodd Stadium. There was a full-house to see the Yellow Jackets take on the Braves of Alcorn State. Even with the Braves and Falcons both having games tonight, the Tech faithful filled Bobby Dodd Stadium to the brim.
In the 1st Half the Yellow Jackets totaled 77-yds passing and 294-yds rushing. They were 2-for-2 in 3rd-Down Conversions and 5-of-5 in Red-Zone Chances.
Everyone knew this was a warmup game for Georgia Tech and it definitely played out that way. To put it mildly, the Buzz had 439-yds rushing with 1:02 left in the 3rd Quarter. Their offense was running so smoothly that subs started coming in after the 1st Quarter.
The only recognizable mistake that was made by Tech came when Justin Thomas scrambled to get away from a defender and was sacked for a loss of 18-yds.
Marcus Marshall had more yards rushing (184) than the entire Alcorn St. offense (138). Georgia Tech had over 500-yds of total offense. Patrick Skov (72) and Broderick Snoddy (51) were efficient with their carries as well.
Georgia Tech finished the night with a convincing 69-6 victory over the visiting Alcorn State Braves. Their next game is next Saturday against Tulane at 3:30pm.
