Saturday, July 2 was a day I had looked forward to for months. Latin sensation Nicky Jam kicked off his “The Fenix Tour” at Philips Arena this past Saturday to jumpstart Atlanta’s holiday weekend.

The opening acts were so great, you almost forgot it was a Nicky Jam show! The DJ did an excellent job of keeping everyone entertained between acts, and then there were the acts themselves: De La Ghetto, Zion y Lennox, and Valentino.

The entire show as a whole was spectacular, but I was most impressed with Zion y Lennox. The veteran duo stole the show and had the arena on their feet the entire performance. They performed tracks like “doncella” “tu príncipe” “yo voy a llegar” “zun dada” and “cuanto tengo que esperar.”

Once Nicky Jam finally came onstage, the entire arena erupted. Everyone danced through his entire set. The entire Fenix Tour experience was like a five hour dance party. This also marks the first time I’ve attended a concert at Philips Arena that went past midnight. Nicky performed a long list of remixes and features with artists like Daddy Yankee, J Balvin, and a string of other artists. We heard songs like “No soy tu marido” “El perdón” and “Hasta el amanecer.”

I couldn’t have asked for a better lineup or performance. Not to mention he told everyone to lookout for his new movie. Then after his announcement, he followed that with a surprise appearance by Vin Diesel. The Fenix Tour at Philips Arena gets a 10 out of 10.
