Atlanta United returns to action on Wednesday, May 30 against New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 7:30 p.m. EST and will be televised on FOX Sports South.
Atlanta did not have a match this past weekend and remains at the top of the Supporters’ Shield standings with 25 points through 12 matches. Atlanta fell to New York Red Bulls 3-1 on May 20 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Ezequiel Barco scored his third goal in four matches, however, a Daniel Royer penalty and two second-half goals from Bradley Wright-Phillips capped the comeback win for New York.
New England and Vancouver played to a 3-3 draw at BC Place on May 26, and the Revs enter the match in sixth place in the Eastern Conference. A Vancouver own goal and a Cristian Penilla strike in the 48‘ minute gave the Revs a 2-0 lead, however, Vancouver’s Cristian Techera responded with two goals in the next three minutes to level the game at 2-2. Teal Bunbury again gave New England the lead in the 59′, but Techera completed his hat-trick in the 74‘ and the teams split the points.
