The wildly popular Jurassic World: Chaos Theory has finally released its second season on Netflix and it’s definitely worth the wait. A quick refresher is available here to get you caught up on things.
*Caution: Spoilers ahead*
“The Nubar Six” is down to five after Brooklyn’s disappearance. The second season begins where the first left off after boarding a ship. The stowaways are at sea for two weeks alongside shipping containers full of dinosaurs. Everyone’s doing their best to avoid being seen except for Kenji (Darren Barnet), whose actions have been more brazen as of late. Forced off course by a major storm, the group quickly discovers that they may have bit off more than they can chew.

One of the most exciting new additions to the Chaos Theory series is the implementation of travel. The Jurassic World team has finally taken this show on the road and audiences are whisked away to new lands with new perspectives. After surviving the stormy waters at sea, the kids end up on land and learn they made it to Senegal. After spending time in the West African country, the kids are introduced to a new culture, foods, and people. The kids are overjoyed to find a farm once they reach land and make new acquaintances out of a young girl named Zayna (Anaiya Asomugha) and her mother Aminata (Cherise Boothe). Through the family, the kids learn a lot about their new surroundings and learn a humbling lesson about the dinos.
Five of “The Nublar Six” are still hanging in there. Ben (Sean Giambrone), Darius (Paul-Mikél Williams), Sammy (Raini Rodriguez), Kenji (Darren Barnet), and Yaz (Kausar Mohammed) are laser-focused on their mission to find out who’s been hunting them and who’s been capturing and selling dinosaurs.
Friendship and teamwork aren’t the only things to runneth over into season two. A big issue, ineffective communication, still runs rampant among the kids. Kenji starts acting erratically and the kids suspect it has to do with all the trauma he’s experienced. Darius has to manage a small dose of insecurity when he meets his match with Zayna (plus she’s younger than him). Ben haphazardly uncovers a mystery that’s plagued the group for months and never comes forward with his discovery. The girls have their issues, but the root problem lies with their communication. Instead of wandering off on their own into unchartered areas or withholding vital information, the kids still haven’t learned that effective communication can prevent brash, poorly thought-out decisions.

This season is full of new friends, new adventures, and most excitingly, new dinosaurs. The kids haven’t managed to shake the thrill of danger and find themselves in a new predicament once they reach West Africa. By air, land, and sea, new dinosaurs pose a threat everywhere they go. The writing this season has been phenomenal and they’ve shifted focus away from romantic relationships and back to dinosaurs and adventure.
Season two of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory gets a 9 out of 10. This is one of the best kid shows available that appeals to everyone. The excitement, suspense, and story are what make the series so great. As new characters come into play, it’ll be interesting to see how they affect the story in the long run.
