It was a beautiful Saturday in Atlanta, and the evening was even more wonderful at the Tabernacle. Like my friend Pam says, “It’s hotter than peppered pudding!” This is my new statement for the heat in ATL!
Opening act, “mehro” is the stage name of musician Sam Sturges, who prefers to render his name in all lowercase letters, is known for songs like “You’re So Pretty” and “Exploding“. His performance was great and he was rocking his “I 💙 METAL” shirt. These alternative/indie artists delivered an epic night till the end: energy, creativity, and well-written songs.
Alternative indie is a music genre that blends elements of indie and alternative rock, often characterized by a unique and experimental sound. It’s sometimes considered more authentic than commercial pop and more unconventional than mainstream alternative rock. The term “alternative” originally referred to musicians influenced by the DIY ethos and musical style of late-1970s punk rock. It also distinguished the genre from commercial or mainstream pop or rock.
The “Persona” tour by half•alive, supporting their album of the same name, is a fun, immersive, visually stunning show with thought-provoking music and an engaging live experience. Tonight at Tabernacle showed the true power of music and dance. The amazing flow and transition from mehro to The Walters made for perfect opening acts. It felt so natural to then see half•alive hit the stage, showing both the introspective and energetic sides of their music.
The professional staff at Tabernacle were great, making it easy to enter and exit the venue. They’re always great people and keep the energy at this historic venue.
mehro continues their opening performances alongside The Walters for the remaining tour dates of half•alive’s North American tour. Tonight, they’ll play in Philadelphia at The Fillmore Philadelphia, and they’ll arrive in the D.C. area on April 13 to play The Fillmore in Silver Spring.
