DC Power has announced that they have acquired Gotham FC forward Mak Whitham on loan through the 2026 Gainbridge Super League Fall season, pending league and federation approval.
“Mak is an incredibly talented young forward who is an exciting addition for us,” Steven Birnbaum, DC Power Football Club Sporting Director, said. “She has shown a great deal of promise, and we believe her pace and creativity will add another dimension to our group. We are excited for her to continue her development with us while contributing to the team this 2026 season.”
Whitham, just 16 years old, has quickly established herself as one of the most promising young players in American soccer. She signed with Gotham FC at just 13 years old in July of 2024, where she became the youngest player in NWSL history to sign a contract. Whitham would make her debut that same year, coming on as an 80th-minute substitute in a 2-1 win over the Washington Spirit on July 28 in the NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup. The following 2025 season, Whitham would make her NWSL regular-season debut on March 16 in Gotham’s 1-1 season opener draw against Seattle Reign FC, becoming the youngest player in NWSL history to appear in a match. Over two seasons, Whitham has appeared in 10 matches across all competitions.
At the international level, Whitham has represented the United States at the youth levels and was part of the 2024 Concacaf Girls U-15 Championship squad, scoring a goal in the 3-0 win over Mexico in the final. Most recently, she featured for the U-17 Women’s National team, where she scored five goals in the group stage of the Concacaf Women’s U-17 Qualifiers in March, helping secure a berth to the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
