“Food. Friends. Fun. A Festival Trifecta!”

Hello TPR followers!

Last week the TPR team had the pleasure of attending the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival.  May 10-13 in Midtown Atlanta was the place where it all unfolded.  The AFWF provided the best of what a food and wine connoisseur could ask for — you like an academic / classroom environment?  Then there were plenty of workshops and indoor sessions for you to attend: presentations, demonstrations and the like.  But if you’re more of a practical application person (like I am), then there were tents set-up where you could go and actually sip, touch, and taste!  Yeah!

I won’t begin to list all the food and beverage establishments that were represented (for fear of foolishly omitting someone), but suffice it to say whatever your palette yearned for in the area of southern cuisine or libation, you would leave the AFWF totally fulfilled.  This years’ AFWF was the inaugural visit by the TPR team, and we feel that the festival lived up to all of its pre-festival hype!

In the food department — OMG!  From fried chicken (slightly honey glazed) to good old fashioned barbecue, it just didn’t get any better.  From tequila-dipped popsicles to bacon chocolate brownies (yes, I said bacon!  Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it!) — for the person with a sweet tooth, you’d have thought you died and went to heaven.  In the libation department — OMGx2!!  If you enjoy sipping a nice chardonnay, cab, or pinot (or maybe an assemblage) this was the place for you!  Like something a bit more stout?  There were vodkas, rums, tequilas, bourbons, and scotch’s (YES!).  Whatever type of “adult beverage” you wanted, it was there for the sipping.

Not even a little liquid sunshine on Sunday could put a damper on the great time we had, and we’re looking forward to future events.  On our TPR rating scale, we’d give the 2012 AFWF 4.5 peaches out of 5!
