On the second Sunday of each month, the High Museum offers free admission for all visitors and special family-friendly programming from 1 to 4 p.m.

To help ensure your family has a great experience at the High Museum, check out the Second Sunday Social Story (información en español). This will give you a sense of what to expect during your visit.

With all of the great exhibits on display this month, we expect to see you this Sunday!

Please note: Admission is free from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Programming takes place from 1 to 4 p.m.

 

April 2017: Build It!

Did you know that the High Museum’s buildings were designed by two award-winning architects? Have you ever thought of a building as a work of art?

Build It! Art-Making Workshops
1–4 p.m.

Location: Robinson Atrium, Stent Family Wing
Work with High Museum teaching artists to create your own architectural masterpiece!

Performances by Moving in the Spirit
1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Workshop by Moving in the Spirit
2 p.m.

Location: Robinson Atrium, Stent Family Wing
Inspired by our Build It! theme, Moving in the Spirit will be here to perform and lead movement-based workshops for the whole family. Moving in the Spirit is a nationally-recognized youth development program that uses the art of dance to positively transform the lives of children and teens here in Atlanta.

Build It! Story Times
1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m.

Location: Greene Family Education Center Lecture Room, Lower Level, Stent Family Wing
Join the fun through an interactive experience inspired by books that highlight architecture and building!

Interventions by The Object Group
1–4 p.m.

Location: Throughout museum galleries
Inspired by the High’s permanent collection and special exhibitions, The Object Group has created in-gallery mini performances just for families that will make you laugh, smile, and look a little closer at the wonderful art around you.

Toddler Tours (best for ages 15 months–3 years)
1:15 and 2 p.m.
Meet in the Greene Family Learning Gallery, Lobby Level, Stent Family Wing
This workshop is a physically interactive experience for toddlers to engage with art. Building on budding imaginations, we’ll use dance- and drama-based strategies to interpret works of art and learn about museums.

Baby Steps: Infant Tour (best for 15 months and younger with a caregiver)
3:30 p.m.
Meet in the Greene Family Learning Gallery, Lobby Level, Stent Family Wing
The earliest encounters with art are about interacting with the visual world and encouraging babies to respond to their environment. Baby Steps is about having a one-on-one conversation with your baby. (20 minutes)
