It’s time to make plans for the all-new Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center at City Springs. The new venue will open its doors this summer for its inaugural season, which will include performances by a variety of artists, kicked-off by a twelve-day opening celebration in August.
The Opening Celebration will introduce patrons to the diverse line-up of entertainment they can expect to experience at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center, along with free activities that will be fun for the whole family. The 2018-2019 season will continue with a diverse blend of programming featuring various concerts, dance, theater, comedy, and family entertainment.
Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul believes incorporating and supporting the arts is an integral facet of creating a strong community. “Involvement in the arts, whether visual, theatre, or music, creates tiny threads that draw people in, sparks imagination and fosters a sense of community. Also, through art, we can tell stories. We expect you’ll find our inaugural season rich with tales that intrigue, excite and simply entertain. This year – and into the future – we will deliver variety and diversity in an assortment of performances, all intended to entice you back again and again.”
The Performing Arts Series will be the Center’s flagship performance series, hosting ten events across varying genres including dance, theater, music, and comedy. The Speaker Series will feature presentations by notable figures and thought leaders from a range of disciplines. The National Geographic Live Series will introduce the audience to today’s leading explorers, scientists, and photographers, with thought-provoking presentations that will enthrall attendees with tales of exploration from big cats in Asia to big rocks on Mars.
In addition to these events, the Sandy Spring Performing Arts Center’s Affiliate Groups will present an array of programs throughout the year. These organizations include the City Springs Theatre Company, the Atlanta Ballet, Roswell Dance Theatre, and the Atlanta Opera. Patrons can also expect ongoing announcements of new shows by concert promoters that will be added to the performance schedule throughout the year. The Center’s Arts Education program will include diverse offerings for students of all ages.
The public is encouraged to visit the website for updates and to follow the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center on social media (Facebook & Twitter @CitySprings | Instagram @VisitCitySprings). Dates and full event descriptions are available online at citysprings.com. Subscription packages will go on sale Friday, June 1, 2018, and single tickets will be available starting June 22, 2018. Patrons can purchase tickets at the City Springs box office (Monday- Friday, 10am-5pm, Saturday 10am-2pm), by calling (770) 206-2022, or online at citysprings.com.
