The curtain’s about to go up on the metro area’s newest performing arts center. With events scheduled to begin August 7, 2018, the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center at City Springs will set the stage for families and friends to come together, be entertained, and tap into the community spirit.

The Opening Celebration will introduce patrons to the diverse line-up of entertainment they can expect at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center, along with free activities that will be fun for the whole family. The 2018-2019 season will continue with a diverse blend of programming featuring concerts by classical, popular, and jazz musicians, dance, theater, comedy, and family entertainment.

 

Opening Celebration Activities & Events

National Night Out
August 7, 2018, at 6 pm, City Green
Hosted by the Sandy Springs Police Department, this free community, family-oriented event brings together local public safety officers and the people they protect. Attendees will get to know their police officers, firefighters and the always popular K-9 “officers.” Refreshments will be served and there will be plenty of games to play and vehicles to explore.

City Springs Day
August 11, 2018, activities all day. City Green, Studio Theatre and Byers Theatre
The day begins with the Farmer’s Market, add in sporting games for all ages on the Green, sample an array of genres of theatrical and musical entertainment from local to national, and fitting for an opening weekend, add in a surprise or two.

Branford Marsalis Quartet
August 11, 2018, at 8 pm., Byers Theatre

But on Thursday, August 16, the stage will be set and the room transforms into a nightclub where serious dining, and music will swing the joint!

Steinway Celebration
August 17, 2018, at 8 pm, Studio Theatre
The Performing Arts Center celebrates the inaugural performance of its brand new Steinway with favorites of the piano repertoire performed by Kenneth Broburg and Daniel Hsu, the silver and bronze medalists of the 2017 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. You don’t want to miss the inaugural tickling of ivories.
