Music Monday: Alok & Timmy Trumpet, Tim Johnson Jr., Maahez, Fransis Derelle, Bobby Love, R3HAB x Icona Pop, The Prodigy

Following the release of his heartfelt single ‘Pray’ with British pop sensation Conor Maynard, Brazilian superstar DJ Alok takes a different direction for his second release of the year. Teaming up with Australian DJ Timmy Trumpet for a mind-blowing collaboration, ‘Metaphor’ is out now via Spinnin’ Records.

Setting the mood with a bold vocal piece, the track seamlessly blends the duo’s production styles together, leading to two epic and unique drops. Masterfully crafted by two of the world’s most in-demand producers, ‘Metaphor’ is a mighty production that is set to light up dance floors with its larger-than-life energy.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Tim Johnson Jr. has always been musical since he was a child. At the age of 10, he portrayed Disney’s Young Simba in the Las Vegas production of The Lion King for two years. Recently, Tim Johnson Jr. became a semifinalist on the Fox breakout competition show The Four: Battle for Stardom mesmerizing audiences and gaining a loyal social following.

Rising from Miami’s legendary music scene, Cuban born producer and DJ, Maahez is quickly proving to be a name music fans need to watch. His single “Bring Me the Fire” went viral and launched his career on the fringes of today’s bass music movement, and his mashups and remixes have won fans over around the world. His latest release, “Papeles” features up and coming Spanish singer, songwriter and guitarist Alej, Puerto Rican trap pioneer Larry Over, Dominican-American singer, songwriter, dancer, and Miami music scene mainstay Yashua — who was also a breakthrough on the singing competition La Banda — and Honduran trap and dancehall talent Menor Menor, who counts Latin music stars like Farruko among his list of past collaborators.

Combining elements of tropical house, reggaeton and hip hop, “Papeles” is a bouncy, sensual delight reminiscent at times of names like Major Lazer, Drake, and Fuego. It comes along with a music video shot in the vibrant Magic City, Miami.

Salt Lake producer Fransis Derelle has recruited the talents of several big-hitting DJs to compile an all-encompassing EP of Pixel Paradise remixes. Introducing new remixes by Pure 100%, AMF, Cyran, and IAMU. As well as featuring past remixes by Convex, Hopsteady, CRaymak and AWAL’s CRAYWAL, and Crystalize. This is not one to be missed.

Korean DJ Pure 100% has had support from Slander, Mija, Manila Killa, Hyper Potions, etc. Establishing him as one of Korea’s premier bass music talents. Seattle duo AMF has been key in establishing the Washington club scene, following releases on Buygore and Quality Goods, the duo is certainly doing their city proud.

Bobby Love’s newest release “New Love” ft. Olive B just dropped on Physical Presents. Toronto-based Bobby experiments again with merging together house music and R&B elements, forming a foundation for sensual vocals of singer/songwriter Olive B (also hailing from Toronto).

R3HAB was busy recently in the studio hence I’m sending over his new single that will be out on Feb 08 (R3HAB’s 3rd original release of 2019). “This Is How We Party” is a collaboration between R3HAB and a Swedish duo – Icona Pop (signed to TEN/Big Beat/Atlantic), which will be out on R3HAB’s CYB3RPVNK label.

Iconic English electronic music band The Prodigy is poised to take over North America this May with its first headline tour in ten years. The Prodigy will combine solo headline shows in Dallas, New Orleans, Atlanta, Washington, DC, Boston and New York City with main stage performances at some of North America’s finest heavy music festivals including Welcome to Rockville, Epicenter Festival, Sonic Temple and Chicago Open Air. Tickets for solo headline shows are on sale Friday, February 8th at 10 AM local time via theprodigy.com.

The tour announcement coincides with the release of The Prodigy’s new single ‘We Live Forever;’ a track that brings together Keith and Maxim (plus a killer Ultramagnetic MCs vocal hook) over a sinister ascending riff that keeps coming at you, before erupting into a violent energy only Liam Howlett knows how to bring.
