Music Monday: Joker’s Hand, Adventure Playground, Floorplan, wakelee, and Moby & Gaidaa

Southern California’s Jokers Hand has released a new video for the single “You’re Why I Don’t Sleep At Night,” the follow-up to the duo’s track “Danny Phantom” (ft. Jakob Nowell). Both songs appear on the band’s current EP “Seeing Red”. Their EP comes on the heels of their 8-song debut album, ‘All-American Rage.’ Hailing from Torrance, CA, the duo has been steadily amassing fans since their early singles took off on KROQ (many of which spent weeks at #1 on the station’s weekly program ‘Locals Only’).

Adventure Playground is on this earth to have fun and play awesome punk rock music. Hailing from Oakland, CA, the band is a 5-piece outfit that is turning heads with its catchy hooks and contagious energy. Formed in 2021 by old friends who were inspired to create a new, unique blend of punky-pop that is now taking the storied East Bay music scene by storm, Adventure Playground is setting its sights on world domination.

The band’s debut single “Alright Already” is out today and offers a glimpse into what listeners can expect from the upcoming debut album.

Robert and Lyric Hood return as Floorplan to Classic Music Company with another double-track release of divine house. Opening with ‘We Give Thee Honor’, a high energy cut teased during their set at Nuits Sonores festival in Lyon which quickly caught the attention of Classic label boss Luke Solomon. As syncopated organ stabs are juxtaposed with a wild vocal loop and unpredictable gospel interjections, the record creates the unique energy of worship in full flow.

Formed in Brooklyn in 2019, wakelee consists of identical twins Alex (vocals/guitar) and David Bulmer (drums) and Elliot Shiang (vocals/bass). They met at a friend’s show in New York and immediately bonded over Halal food and Indie music. They have since released an EP, a healthy batch of emo-tinged singles, and are prepping to release their debut album, produced by Superbloom’s Brian DiMeglio (Bartees Strange, Grandad) which is expected to come out in the Spring of 2023.

Check out this amazing video by Moby and rising Dutch-Sudanese singer Gaidaa entitled “transit”. Tipped by Crack and COLORS and featured on POLLEN, Gaidaa’s rich and distinctive vocals weave elegantly with the soulful piano-led orchestral trip-hop arrangement from Moby.
