The Washington Spirit has traded forward Gift Monday to Boston Legacy FC in exchange for $500k in transfer threshold funds, the clubs announced today. The trade also carries a 20 percent sell-on clause for the Spirit should Boston transfer or trade Monday to a third club in the future.
“Since arriving, Monday has been a valuable contributor in our attacking third and played an integral role in helping this club reach the NWSL Championship last season,” said Sporting Director James Hocken. “We wish her nothing but continued success in the next stage of her career.”
Monday joined the Spirit in March 2025, transferring from Spain’s UD Tenerife. The forward appeared in 48 total matches for Washington across all competitions, tallying 12 goals and three assists in the attacking third. Monday played a key role for the Spirit during last season’s NWSL Playoffs, scoring two goals at Audi Field to help the side return to the NWSL Championship.
The Spirit will take the pitch at Audi Field next on Saturday, October 17, when the side hosts rival Gotham FC. Kicking off at 12:30 p.m. EDT. Follow all of the Spirit Roster updates here.
