Soapbox and Shenanigans
Well what do you expect besides Red Bull and shenanigans? The race had comedy at every corner and the costumes were hilarious! Aside from what to expect from Red Bull there was still a race to win. Not to be confused with the youth soapbox derby, Red Bull Soapbox Race is a national race for amateur drivers, which is fueled by creativity and competitive fun. This unique non-motorized racing event challenges both experienced racers and amateurs alike to design and build outrageous, human-powered soapbox dream machines and compete against the clock in a downhill race.*
The race is for fun and the shear joy of being there amongst thousands of onlookers but there are prizes too. 1st Place will be treated to a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the whole team. Ride along in an off-road truck with Red Bull athlete Bryce Menzies, the 2011 SCORE Trophy Truck and TORC Pro-2 Champion. Or share the cab with Red Bull athlete Ricky Johnson, 2011 TORC Pro-4 Champion. The winners will also be guests of Team Menzies at the TORC Race in Charlotte in July of 2012.
2nd Place will receive a day of professional high performance driving instruction on a closed professional course for all team members.
3rd Place will receive a day at your local go-cart track for all team members. This experience includes food, drinks and racing time for you and a guest (10 total).*
Here are some of the photos from the race. There will be more to see in our next edition of The Peach Review™ 😀
