“To sum up the production in one word; Refreshing!”
We recently saw the play “Warrior Class” and we’re here to tell you its amazing! This production is playing on Alliance Theatre’s Hertz Stage (downstairs) which feels like a different entity completely. You’re welcomed by a neon sign displaying the stage name and as you go downstairs you’ll notice all the walls are tagged and spray painted. A more intimate venue than its big brother upstairs, Hertz Stage is the perfect setting for this three-person production.
The story begins in New York where we find a young man on the upswing in politics. While he’s being groomed into “the next best thing”, the emergence of an ex-girlfriend threatens his political aspirations. If he can’t put a lid on his ex-girlfriend it will definitely take a toll on his campaign and possibly the race.
We had a chance to speak with House of Cards writer Kenneth Lin after the production and we can honestly say, that his vision and passion are only preceded by his kindness . The man who started with humble beginnings right here in Atlanta by winning the Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwright Competition has returned with this masterpiece production “Warrior Class.” The production runs until November 17 so make sure you see it before it’s too late!
