South African destination 10 Degrees South and neighborhood icon Marlow’s Tavern are set to debut the “Midsummer Cocktail Party,” a six-week long partnership and celebration of the two acclaimed restaurants. Beginning Tuesday, June 23, through Monday, August 3, Marlow’s Tavern invites guests to enjoy hand crafted drinks, craft beers and bold South African wines in addition to a menu of authentic South African dishes created exclusively by 10 Degrees South.
The Midsummer Cocktail Party features the limited edition menu in addition to the regular Marlow’s Tavern menu, treating guests to global tastes and a fusion of signature flavors from both 10 Degrees South and Marlow’s Tavern. Highlights of the special menu include peri-peri firecracker eggs with house-made pimento cheese, smoked chili cream, Applewood-smoked bacon and signature South African thinly sliced biltong, also known as air-dried beef jerky and spicy peri-peri sauce, the classic “Gatsby,” a toasted Cuban roll stuffed with grilled filet mignon, leafy greens, Roma tomatoes, red onions, tavern fries and peri-peri aioli and baked malva cake, a traditional South African dessert of cream-soaked pound cake, Bailey’s Irish Cream and apricot jam.
The partnership also embraces featured South African wines, a selection boasting undiscovered flavors such as Boschendal, a complex blend of chardonnay and pinot noir, Riebeek Creek Cellars Chenin Blanc, the season’s best from South Africa with aromas of guava, gooseberries and tropical fruit, KWV Pinotage, rich with plum, banana and fruit cake flavors and Mulderbosch Faithful Hound Red Blend, featuring herbal notes and tasty varietals Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot.
In addition to the six-week special menu, Marlow’s Tavern is offering guests a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Cape Town, South Africa, an opportunity to experience the culture, cuisine and wine region that inspires 10 Degrees South owner Justin Anthony’s restaurants and the Midsummer Cocktail Party.
